Toronto-based homeware design company Umbra - Latin for "shade" - was born over 30 years ago when graphic designer, Paul Rowan, couldn’t find a nice window shade to hang in his apartment. What a great design for a curtain rod! I love that the curtain rod has a curve back towards the wall, allowing me to pull my blockout curtain right to the wall to really block out every speck of light. This curtain rod was very easy to install, after careful measuring to make sure it was the right length. The double rods allow me to hang a sheer curtain and a blockout curtain in front, which is exactly what I was after. It looks beautiful and is very functional. All around a very good buy.

Quite easy to install and looks good. Does the job well. Just make sure to check where your studs are and to use the appropiate wallmates. The ones that come with the product are fine if you're going directly into plaster with a hollow cavity, but you will need appropriate wall mates if you ware going into a wooden or metal wall stud.

Absolutely love this curtain rail. Insanely intelligent and seamless design! So clever - once rail is hung you don't see any way to detach the rail - but then realise the smooth screw and telescope provide for this. SO sleek and beautiful. The photos are not fab as I didn't iron the curtains before I hung them but you get the idea.
