Jamukatari is the Tiwi wet season. Pakitiringa (rain) falls every day & the swamps, creeks, and rivers become full. Wunijaka (wind) comes from the northwest blows & brings rain. Lightning & thunder (Pumarali) are frequent. During this time, the mangroves worm bred both cheeky Wakatapa & sweet Yuwurli, & the saltwater crocodiles (Yirrikapayi) build (Maruti) nests & lay eggs. There are lots of bush tucker available during Jamukatari.

About the Designer
Russellina Puruntatameri
Russellina Puruntatameri is a proud Tiwi woman from the Tiwi Islands, which is 80km north of Darwin. Russellina developed her artistic skills from her family at the Munupi Arts Centre, where she grew up in Pirlangimpi. Her paintings highlight the importance of keeping the Tiwi culture strong for children so they can learn the culture, stories, dances, language and art.
