The screw used to secure the top was too large and protruded through the top surface, resulting in damage to the top shelf with the top layer coming off.

Great little shelving unit - however hard to put together as the holes in the timber DO NOT match where the metal braces go, so some screws did not want to go in. But once put together it looks good.
