The classic orchid
Single stem orchids like these phalaenopsis work well in pairs. It’s a classic way to make an impact in an entryway or on a console table. Keep it symmetrical. Orchids work really well in pairs, or use a single pot in a bathroom or on your bedside table.

Tropical foliage
When it comes to palms and large-leaf plants such as rubber plants and the ubiquitous fiddle leaf fig, think corners and clusters. Choose either one larger plant, or group a few in a variety of heights. It's the easiest way to decorate an empty space and bring in a feeling of the outdoors.

Small succulents
Succulents are perfect for a coffee table or dining table as they bring interesting form and colour without adding height to interrupt the flow of conversation or your view of the TV. Choose one large shallow vessel (be creative) and plant it with a few different varieties, or use individual plants in small containers and group them together.

Ferns & trailing plants
No shelfie would be complete without a hint of green. Delicate maidenhair ferns and trailing plants are perfect as they soften the defined shapes of shelves, books and frames. If you’re placing plants on a shelf, make sure you don’t over-clutter your space, instead create a vignette where each item has room to breathe.
